Pineapple Princess

And here is our perfect little Pineapple Princess - we love her. She was, of course, rather different when she lived in the Sallie's shop. It’s amazing how we can all rise the occasion if required!

I usually pull all my chairs completely to pieces and then remake them to take advantage of modern materials which are more comfortable and easier to work with, plus usually everything is falling to bits anyway. And the Pineapple Princess is no exception. I’m always hoping I’ll find money or a diamond ring or something but so far only a few sticky coins and abandoned pegs and knitting needles – obviously leftovers from the lives of hard-working women who were multi-tasking.

But this chair has also had something interesting happen to her sometime I think. When I got everything off I found that the webbing at the bottom which holds the springs up had been made out of an old leather bandolier. I wonder if someone was hiding their past or maybe in post-war no longer had a use for bullet belts!!

But it was doing the job perfectly well, so I just tightened it up and put it back. She carries her secret still.

The new fabric is durable, indoor/outdoor and looks fabulously hopefully summery to me. It was quite expensive unfortunately but worth it I think. The arms and legs are now back to the original beautiful pale Tawa and have been sprayed with heat-resistant and durable clear finish.

I love this chair and wish I could keep it. It’s a little more expensive than my usual bargains because the fabric was so expensive. She can be yours for $365 and I will deliver her anywhere. PM me if you would like to buy her but do it NOW as I’m leaving next week to walk Camino Del Norte. I am going with my daughter (lucky me) and will be away on that crazy and foolhardy adventure for two months. Keep your eye out for the little blog we are writing, it’s called The Walkie Talkie Dolls.

PS I'm not sure how the naughty cat managed to sneak into the photo but he always does like to keep on eye on proceedings whatever they are.
