Mr Brown on Tour

And here is the gorgeous Mr Brown. He’s come a long way since I rescued him from his sad sojourn on the side of the road. He actually started out in the Don factory more than half a century ago and I guess it goes to show how well these chairs were made. He is totally ready for another half-century. But I have actually remade almost everything and there was a lot of work in getting the woodwork back up to scratch (well actually without a scratch). He looks pretty sharp now we think. The “map of the world” fabric doesn’t actually include NZ which is a bit of a cheek but we will ignore it for the sake of stylishness. You can buy him if you message me but I have put him on Trade Me as well.

I have been working for the Census so it’s amazing that I actually had time to do any furniture at all. I’m lucky that the weather has been so good and I am loving wandering around the streets talking to people and avoiding their dogs.  I’ve had a few scary moments. Why do those angry dogs seem so pointedly angry?

But mostly the sun is shining and everyone is so friendly, or maybe it’s just the small town vibe up here. The small towns in NZ are booming apparently and we sure are having a lovely time up here at Foxta del Sol in this endless summer. My black Wellington outfits sit darkly sulking in my wardrobe and never get an outing; and all of us local widows talk about whether we need to buy wetsuits if we are to keep on swimming in the surf for a few more months yet. Ah- the big questions!!
