Miss Jemima- October 2107

Here she is - ready for anything. When I found her she had been subjected to a nasty eighties-style disaster in vinyl and then abandoned outside for a few years. But like a few of us old girls who didn't do so well with that eighties look (and let's face it -that's most of us except Rachel Hunter) it seems there is a second chance. When I had cleaned them up her arms and legs turned out to be lovely light-coloured Tawa .

She already has a new home so you can't buy her but I thought you might like to see what I'm doing now.  We think she looks great and will have a whole new lease of life - like me.

I have not had many new furniture characters to show you on my website over the last few months, not through lack of enthusiasm but I've been very busy on my DIY house renos and it seems that a widow's work is never done. Plus everything is just a bit more tricky these days.

Getting older has some wonderful moments of not having to care about anything and not being scared of anything- after all - the worst  has already happened to me. But tormentingly, there are some challenges too.The irritating weakness that means that starting the lawnmower is a triumph and gardens seem to be full of stubborn things that won't be moved or pulled or chopped.

Ladders that all of a sudden seem alarmingly high and wobbly and jars with lids that never come off.  The indignity of having  to wait round for someone stronger to turn up. The other day I even resorted to asking a passer-by if they could start the lawn mower,  although still a way to go to match my wussy little daughter who sat outside the house til someone passed by who could come in and remove the dead mouse from the kitchen! But thankfully still not up to the part like the old gent I know who says you can't count on anything  so he never buys green bananas!!

I write best under duress so forgive this boring little chat- you can take from that life is calm for now.
