Lady Ga-Garden
There are some streets in Wellington that are so narrow and steep and tangled that it is almost impossible to tell where one part starts and another ends. I was visiting a friend who lives in one of those streets and as I tried to negotiate the tricky driveway, I came across a woman doing the same thing. We met in the middle, narrowly avoiding hitting each other and I noticed that she had a strange old chair in the back of her car. She told me she was trying to get to the tip to get rid of it. I offered to take it off her hands and save her the complicated journey. She was happy; I was happy, and look how it all turned out. The gorgeous, colourful and singlular, Lady Ga-Garden.
It is an unusual chair. At first I thought she might have been hand-made but now I am sure she’s not, just a design I hadn’t seen before. She is very comfortable and strong and now looks pretty cool too. I have repadded, repainted and completely changed the look of her. She was kind of dowdy brown tweed of the completely ugliest retro before.
I’d like to keep her but can’t fit anyone else in to my tiny house in Foxton which is already overcrowded with furniture projects that I cannot bear to part with. So I have taken her down to the SEA Gallery, Foxton beach. The gallery in Seabury Ave (Seabury Exhibiting Artists) showcases work from local artists and other randoms like me! You can buy it there but there are many other (probably more worthy) options for purchases as well. Worth a visit guys.
Merry Xmas everyone - I am compeletly jacking out of it all this year and going tramping- it feels fantastic. What a relief after all those years of mince pies, Xmas cakes, present wrapping, tidying up endlessly and trying to stuff yourself into your togs in Janaury after all that eating. But I hope you all have a great time and everyone stays safe and well. I will be enjoying it too, even if I don't actually get to eat any Xmas cake.
