Is anyone pregnant??
I suppose quite a few of you are pregnant - but no one in our house (that I know of).
I got hold of this old chair and thought that it would make a nice little feature for a child’s room. They used to be called Nursing Chairs and often come with little pleated skirts. They are good for breast-feeding because they have no arms and are low to the ground - less drama if you drop the baby??
I thought I could remake this and cover it in this nice star fabric. Let me know if you fancy it. It does require a bit of an imaginative leap – but I’m sure you can all do it. I have previously done one of these chairs for a baby and there is a picture on my photo page- it was navy blue with turtle doves and really lovely.
I’m going to do it anyway but I could pipe it in any colour to match your room. I know it looks alarmingly baggy in the picture but that is the thrill of it all – I promise I can make it like new.
I’ve had a slow restart to my re-upholstery with my now-almost-but-not-quite-mended finger. I have met a few other people who are doing different things with furniture and that is very encouraging and fun. It’s hard to keep the faith sometimes, and even though I never planned to make any money from this- nowadays in the penury of poor little widowhood- money talks - in fact - money sings an opera.
I’m always thinking up new plans and schemes – sometimes too much time to think I guess. As Brian once famously said to me - you think too much and you read too much. As you can well imagine – there was serious punishment for that comment. But now, down the long barrel of a long life, I can kind of see what he meant.
This is the first summer in my whole adult life when I didn’t have to go back to work- shame there was no summer in Wellington – or even Foxton for that matter.
So – if you fancy a little Star Chair for the bedroom of your new baby who will no doubt be a star or your already born and rapidly growing to be a star offspring – let me know and I will tailor it for you.
And to the rest of you --- you will just have to use your imagination.
